Description
The Commercial Analyst role is one that will support the Finance Director and Business Development team in bidding for new contracts, reporting directly to the Head of Management Information. The Commercial Analyst will also provide support to the Management Accounts team developing models for monthly and quarterly forecasts along with the annual budgeting process. This is not an exhaustive list and the Commercial Analyst will be expected to carry out any other duties as may be specified by line management from time to time. Key Responsibilities # Contract Bidding # The Commercial Analyst supports the Finance Director and Bidding team when submitting contract bids, developing Excel financial models to enable strategic pricing decisions to be made # Build and develop Excel financial models to support bidding for new contracts including full cash flow forecasts. Models will need to be capable of allowing sensitivity analysis to enable strategic pricing and performance decisions to be made. # Models must be user friendly with detailed instructions and documentation. They must be structured with up to 10-15 worksheets, each subject to individual sensitivities. # Models must be able to perform profitability analysis based on project outputs, be fully secure and linked where necessary to source data from other workbooks. # Liaise with the Finance Director and Business Development team to collate information for the design of business models. # Provide support to the Global Accounting team as required with building and developing Excel financial models to support bidding for new overseas contracts # Train other Finance staff in the use of such financial models as appropriate Modelling for Forecasts and Budgeting The Commercial Analyst develops and modifies the financial models required to enable forecasting and budgeting to be completed. # Preparation of monthly and quarterly forecasts and annual budgets using models capable of consolidating up to 100 cost centres. # Liaise with the Management Accounts team to ensure processes and models are understood. # Extracting data from company databases, both financial and operational, to compile performance reports and statistics. # Implementation of new contracts The Commercial Analyst supports the implementation team for newly won contracts to ensure that accurate forecasts are produced that reflect the contracts being implemented # Adapt and revise bid models to produce P&L and cashflow forecasts that reflect the reality of contracts being implemented # Ensure that models are sufficiently complex to cover all aspects of contract delivery, but are sufficiently user-friendly that they can be shared with Operations and Management Accounts COMMERCIAL ANALYST PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Criteria  Qualified or part-qualified Accountant.  Previous work experience in business planning, forecasting and budgeting.  Proficient with Excel to advanced Macro level.  Demonstrable previous experience of building complex financial models from scratch.  Demonstrable experience at picking up new businesses quickly.  Understand a very complex business operation.  Good commercial acumen.  Demonstrable ability to provide innovative solutions to problems.  Experience of working on own as well as in team and meet deadlines  Good interpersonal skills to liaise with Operations and Finance staff  Flexible on travel and location, intensive bid work may require periods working in London. Desirable Criteria:  Experience of multi site / cost centre operations.  Experience of Oracle systems Salary Range Liverpool: £30,000 to £35,000
